We have had quite a rough year as a nation and it has definitely taken its toll on a lot of families. However, within that space, we have learnt a lot about resilience and adaptability and also the value of our relationships. We have learnt to try and be more comfortable with the uncomfortable, to adapt and acclimatize to the ever changing rules and actions to be adhered to. As Christmas heads our way, it may not look as familiar as recent years with families being separated and some struggling to make ends meet. There will be many mixed emotions and feelings of frustration, angst, uncertainty and unease.
I really want to take a moment and think about what all this means and what is of real value to us. And the conclusion is that people matter, our relationships matter, our physical and mental health matters. The consumerism of Christmas is of little value in the grand scheme of things. What good is the 'stuff 'without a healthy relationship to give presence to.
I really want to honour our gift of time to each other and the value of our deeper connections. There is so much we can learn from these uncertain times. One thing we can be sure of is that our family matters, the people who hold us, unconditionally love and understand us and who give their time to us.
So my gift to you is creative ideas to dedicate family time together. This activity booklet is for you to share as a family. As there will be various ages and stages of development feel free to adapt and change and get creative with the many ways we can be together. The object is being together, enjoying our relationships and connecting with each other. Its time to put the phones, TV's Xbox's away and give the greatest gift of all, give time to our relationships.
Have a lovely Christmas break
